ELDRIDGE, Iowa — Timothy M. Dugan, 45, of Park View, Iowa, died of a heart attack on January 10, 2012, while traveling for business in Baton Rouge, La. He was born on June 2, 1966, in Janesville, Wis., the son of Donald and Judy (Hoyer) Dugan. Growing up in Bettendorf, Tim enjoyed camping with family, golfing with friends and learning how to scuba dive. He also developed a strong interest in computers which became a passion he carried through life.

Tim graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1984 and majored in computer science at the University of Iowa. He married Nancy Curtis on October 2, 1993, in Davenport. Tim enjoyed his career as a data base administrator and worked for CGI Group in Louisiana. For the past three years he commuted monthly to Baton Rouge where he greatly enjoyed Gulf Coast culture and made many good friends.

At home in Iowa, Tim enjoyed crafting his own ale and often served as a beer judge for local competitions. An active blogger, he had a strong presence online and maintained a large circle of correspondence. Tim also enjoyed cycling and loved all things that reflected his Irish heritage.

Funeral services to celebrate Tim’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on January 18, 2012, at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., Davenport. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on January 17, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.

Survivors include his daughter, Kaleigh Dugan; son, Seán Dugan; his mother, Judy Dugan Goodrum (Bryan) of Bettendorf; his brother, John Dugan (Julia) of San Carlos, Calif.; his nieces, Jacqueline and Joya; and nephew, Jacob.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Dugan, and grandparents, Edward and Dorothy Dugan, and Lyle and Helen Hoyer.

GALESBURG, Ill. — Karla Kaye Huffman, 45, of Galesburg, formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Saturday, September 10, 2011, at her home in Galesburg. She was born on November 8, 1965, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Carl Francis and Karen E. (Miller) Huffman.

Karla is survived by two daughters, Kortney Rupp of Monmouth, Illinois, and Kelsie Rupp; her fiancé, Alan L. Andresen of Galesburg; her mother, Karen Miller Huffman of Bettendorf, Iowa; two brothers, Carlton Fritz and Billie Huffman III, of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Kevin and Bekkie Huffman of Bettendorf, Iowa; and two nieces, Kisha and Kamryn Huffman, both of Bettendorf, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Francis Huffman, and an infant brother, Carlton Francis Huffman.

She grew up in Bettendorf and graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1984. She served in the Army for several years. She lived in many places but always found a home and people who loved her dearly. She most recently was a student at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. She liked working with victims of domestic abuse and always wanted to be an English teacher. She also attended Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg. She enjoyed watching movies and playing board games. She loved Siamese cats and doing nice things for anyone who would let her. She loved her family more than anything.

As per her request, she will be donated to University of Iowa Carver School of Medicine for scientific study. Cremation will follow. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements. A celebration of her life will be held at Bethel Baptist Church 1196 North Academy Street, Galesburg, Ill., on Saturday, September 17, from 3 to 5 p.m. and at the River House, located at 1510 River Drive, Moline, Ill., on Thursday September 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Keith Hunter, a much-beloved computer artist who managed the modeling department of Rhythm and Hues Studios and volunteered tirelessly in Los Angeles-area schools teaching computer animation to young children, has died after a short but fierce battle with cancer. He was 41.

The son of an ophthalmologist and homemaker/dietician, Hunter was born in Washington, D.C. and moved with his family at age 7 to Bettendorf, Iowa, where he spent much of his formative years learning to draw, build models and fix machines - boyhood activities that would carry him into a rich career in computer animation...

Vincent Troy Mitchel passed away on June 14, 2003.


Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Michael J. Arndt, 41, a resident of Bettendorf, will be Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at 10 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4097-18th Street,
Bettendorf. Burial will take place at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church.

There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. Additional visitation at the church will be on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Mike died Saturday, November 3, 2007, at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.

Michael Joseph Arndt was born March 22, 1966, in Davenport, a son of Edwin and Nancy (Weimerskirch) Arndt. Mike had recently been employed by R.R. Donnelly in Eldridge.

Mike spent most of his free time fishing. He enjoyed cooking, experimenting with many different recipes and using his parents as his guinea pigs! He was a very giving person. Mike especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family.

Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association. Survivors include his parents, Edwin and Nancy Arndt, Bettendorf; a sister, Terri Larimer, Bettendorf; a brother, Robert (Debbie) Arndt, Letts, Iowa; nephews and nieces, David and Alison Larimer, Becky (Mike)
Ford, and Tim Arndt; and a great niece, Olivia.

DAVENPORT -- Coleen Robin (Gillmor) , and her husband, Jeffrey Clementi, 42,left this earthly world together on Nov. 28, 2004, in Boulder County, Colo., due to a tragic automobile accident. They will truly be missed. Coleen Robin (Gillmor) Clementi was born Oct. 24, 1965, in Davenport, Iowa, to John F. Gillmor and Evelyn L. (Clemons) Gillmor. She graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1984.. She worked as an office manager and education coordinator for Remax Reality in Broomfield, Colo. She leaves behind her mother, Evelyn L.Gillmor, of Bettendorf; sisters, Eveanne Dawson, of Davenport, Victoria (Ron) Anderson, of Davenport, Sandie (Stan) Fullner, of Omaha; brothers, John Dawson, of Davenport, and Mark A (Bonnie) Gillmor, of Bettendorf; nephews, Jacob Gillmor, Des Moines, Iowa, Lucas Gillmor, Dubuque, Iowa, Marcus Gillmor, of Bettendorf, Joseph Powell, of Bettendorf, Ronnie Anderson, of Denver, Colo., Rodney (Mindy) Anderson, of Petersburg, Ala., Jon (Phyllis) Schwerdtfeger, of Bettendorf, Jeff Schwerdtfeger, of Davenport, Tony (Brenda) Sexton, of Davenport, John Dawson Jr., of Phoenix, Ariz.; and nieces, Joni (Billy) King, of Bristol, Ill., and Jessica Fullner, Omaha, Neb.
